Nike Bozanich April 19 2010- January 05 2026
Nike, AKA, Bubby, best boy Bozanich was born on April 19, 2010 in Vancouver BC.
Nike came into the world with soft wavy fur in shades of mocha, caramel and cream that covered the the top of his head to where feet met his toes. You could not walk past the little fella without noticing his happy wagging tail, his playful presence and his incredible sweet eyes that could read your heart and soul.
It didn’t matter your age, size or gender, he truly loved everyone. Nike just wanted his presence known by resting his head on your lap or feet. All he ever asked for in return was a pat or stroke or some form of acknowledgment. In all honestly, Nike hoped that perhaps somewhere you make have stashed a liver treat or two to give him and reminding him of what a good boy he really was.
Everyone thinks that their dog is the best or that they have special gifts and they all are right, but Nikes talent truly knocked it out of the park. In 2014, the Massey Theater, In New Westminster, was premiering the play Annie. The production held auditions, to find the next Sandy, Annies beloved dog and sidekick. Out of 300 dogs, Nike was chosen to be cast in the play. He did evening and matinees shows following the cast and little orphan Annie across a fully packed stage, theatre and audience with many sold out shows. Family, friends and acquaintances drove hours to see our little four-legged boy perform. Everyone applauded and watched our Nike shine like the superstar he was in and off stage.
Nike had a love of sneakers, it seemed that in his early years he was a chewer and chewed through a pair of Nikes. He also loved to fall asleep in shoes and you could find his resting sleep face imprinted on many a sneaker or sandal.
Nike loved many things and places, in his 15 ½ years on this earth, car rides with his snout out the window and wind in his hair, enjoying liver treats of any kind, going to the beach, dipping his paws in the water and saying greeting anyone and everyone. Nike was happy just to play and run with the big and small dogs at the dog park, and on the way home he would rest his head on your arm as if to say, “thank you”. He knew just the right time to offer a high five or nuzzle into you and Nike had a zest for life and adventure, from the start that continued well into his golden years.
Nike loved being towed in the bicycle trailer and following the sun on a warm summers day and laying & rolling on the earth in every season feel it on his entire body. He enjoyed a freshly mowed lawn, the softness of a new fallen snow, the rustle of leaves as he rolled in them and even the river experience where he found fresh duck droppings that he heavily rolled onto his entire body by like a luxurious spa experience .
Nothing elated Nike more, than his favourite fuzzy toy, from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics called “Quatchi”. A chestnut brown hairy bodied, white chested blue ear muffed little mascot. He must have had more than a dozen in his lifetime. He licked stroked, at times chewed the button eyes and slept with this mascot from his puppyhood until he passed. He would throw Quatchi up in the air bring it to you as a gift and then cuddle it falling sleep with it every single night. This provided him with not only comfort but also a pillow to rest under his chin.
Sweet Nike, you will always be a joy and a very special part of our world and we will miss you so dearly. As I face the dark days, I will continue to watch the sunsets, missing where you once sat with me.
I will remember our many moments together with love remembering that indeed the sun will come out tomorrow and shine brightly in your honour.
Sleep Well bubby, all our love.
The Bozanich’s
Sharlee and I were so blessed when that little man came into our lives he gave us soooooo much joy, often demanding our attention and following Shar room to room and sleeping between my legs at night. He loved travelling with us and most often sat on the console between us before retiring to his bed in the back seat. He was in our thoughts, more human than anything. He seemed to talk especially to me by a sign language developed over the years with his slapping the floor with his front paws and twisting his little head in a such a manor as to say come on. I loved making his dinners with as much care as possible. He harassed our family members and many friends by letting them know they were not allowed to move without his permission and every morning would remind them. And yet he would sit at the top of the stairs anxiously awaiting them to appear in the morning. He enjoyed going out on the front patio to check the neighborhood and would sit patiently wait for us to open the patio door. He was such a sweet little man with the biggest heart you could imagine and when family and friends left our home would sulk missing them terribly.
Forever in our hearts, so sadly missed we will probably never truly get over the loss of our little man with the big heart. What a sweetheart god gave us and so many truly awesome days spent adoringly loving us as we did him. The sweetest little man, we could not have asked for more except more time in our lives and hearts. You little man will live forever in our hearts and thoughts. Not sure if Me or Mom will ever have another tearless day. Good night little man we loved you so so much and still do. Lots of love with teary eyes. Our home so empty now, miss everything you did and every loving look you gave us.
